Kansas City Chiefs guard Nick Allegretti played through a torn UCL in his elbow during the Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

An MRI confirmed a complete tear of the ulnar collateral ligament, according to the report.

Allegretti suffered the injury in the second quarter but still stayed in the game to play all 79 snaps in the game, starting the game at left guard while All-Pro Joe Tunney was sidelined with a concussion.

The 27-year-old allowed one sack during the game as a backup guard and center on a depth charter, according to Pro Football Focus.

‘ Beast man! We told him we wanted him there and he didn’t miss a beat!’ Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke on X.

Allegretti started one regular season game this year and won three championships during his tenure with Kansas City.

He was a seventh-round pick out of Illinois in the 2019 draft.

Allegretti is likely to undergo surgery in the near future to repair the tear and is set to become a free agent this offseason.

Torn UCLs are often suffered from hard throws in baseball, but Allegretti isn’t the only NFL player to have suffered one and played with pain recently.

49ers QB Brock Purdy suffered a torn UCL during last year’s NFC Championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
