Isaiah Stewart was arrested by police before Wednesday’s NBA game.

Detroit Pistons Forward Isaiah Stewart was cited for a fight with a Phoenix Suns player earlier Wednesday. NBA Game of the two teams.

Stewart was arrested in the attack, released on a citation, according to A News release From the Phoenix Police Department, after beating Drew Eubanks.

Stewart, 22, is in his fourth season with the Pistons and Eubanks is 27 years old for the Suns.

Police said officers from the Footprint Center in Phoenix were called to a fight between the two players around 4:45 p.m. (6:45 p.m. ET) in the tunnel of the arena’s parking lot.

The dispute between the two players escalated and Stuart punched Eubank, causing minor injuries, police said. The two men were separated by police.

“Detectives responded to the incident to investigate and gather evidence,” Phoenix police said, adding that the investigation remains active.

“The attack on Eubanks was unprovoked, and such attacks are not tolerated,” a Suns spokesperson told CNN.

“We support Drew unequivocally and will continue to work with local law enforcement and the NBA.”

The Pistons added that they are aware of the incident and are “in the process of gathering information about what happened and what provoked him and responding to the NBA and local authorities.”

CNN has reached out to Stewart’s representative for comment on the arrest.

Stewart has already been ruled out of Wednesday’s 116-110 win with a sprained left ankle.

After the game, Pistons head coach Monty Williams said he and other team officials spoke with Stewart and gave him his side of the story. He also criticized the Suns for the statement they released after the incident.

“The Suns issued a statement and said they were not fired,” Williams told reporters.

“I think this is irresponsible […] I think there is a time to gather information and then you can make a statement.

Suns head coach Frank Vogel did not comment on the brawl, but said, “There’s no place for that in our game.”
