The Dallas Police Department issued an arrest warrant Wednesday for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashi Rice based on his role in a six-vehicle crash on the city’s North Central Expressway last month.

Rouse, 23, faces six counts of hit and run with injury, one count of hit and run causing serious bodily injury and one count of aggravated assault in connection with the March 30 crash, police said. Police said 21-year-old Theodore Knox also has an arrest warrant on the same charge.

“The investigation determined that the two drivers, Knox driving a Corvette and Rice driving a Lamborghini, were speeding in the left lane on the North Central Expressway near University Boulevard,” police said in a statement. “The drivers caused a chain reaction with four other vehicles.”

Rice and Knox were not in custody as of Wednesday night, police added.

Rice’s attorney, Royce West, did not immediately respond to a request for comment, nor was Rice available for comment. West acknowledged at a news conference last week that Rice was driving the Lamborghini involved in the crash.

Rice notified investigators about the matter, West said last week, adding that Rice is cooperating with authorities. West, a Texas state senator, said he expects to be indicted afterward. Rice also said that she plans to help those involved in the conflict.

“We want to make sure Mr. Rice understands and appreciates that we will do everything we can to get his life back to normal as much as possible in light of the property damage.” “It proves that he’s the one that helped them get through some of this,” West said.

Rice also wrote: “I take responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the appropriate authorities.” My sincere apologies to all those who have been hurt. [the] danger”

In a March 31 statement, Dallas police said they were called to a multi-vehicle crash the previous day at 6:25 p.m. Central Time. A preliminary investigation revealed two drivers, one in a Corvette and one in a Lamborghini, were speeding in the far left lane, police said.

According to the statement, the drivers “lost control”. The Lamborghini traveled onto the shoulder and hit the median wall, causing a “chain reaction collision” involving four more vehicles, police said.

“The occupants of the Lamborghini and Corvette fled the scene without stopping to report that anyone needed medical attention or information,” police said in a statement. Two drivers involved in the crash were treated for “minor injuries” by emergency responders, while two passengers in another vehicle were taken to hospital with what police said were “minor injuries”.

In addition to any legal consequences, Rice could face disciplinary action by the NFL under its personal conduct policy. This could mean a fine or suspension without pay.

The league generally waits until the legal process is complete before making a decision about future discipline. The NFL has discretion over whether to place a player on paid administrative leave by placing him on the commissioner’s exempt list during legal proceedings. With the NFL in the offseason and the Chiefs not playing a regular season game until September, there is little reason for the league to act at this point.

“We will continue to monitor developments in the matter,” an NFL spokesman said in a statement.

The bosses did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Rose was born in Philadelphia and grew up near Fort Worth. He attended college in the Dallas area at SMU. The Chiefs selected him in the second round of the 2023 draft.

As his rookie season progressed, he caught 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns in 16 of 17 regular season games. He went 26 for 262 yards and a touchdown in four regular season games as the Chiefs won their second straight Super Bowl in Las Vegas in February. Next season, they will attempt to become the first NFL team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
