Ipad Pro Battery

Thanks to teardown and durability (bending) testing, we learn a lot about the design of the new ultra-thin iPad Pro. Now the folks at iFixit have they carried out their deep demolition, revealed a major internal change that could save “hours of repair time.” The video also offers our first look inside the new Apple Pencil Pro.

The iFixit teardown offers one of our best looks at the internals of the new M4 iPad Pro. There’s a closer look at the new tandem OLED display, the redesigned front-facing camera, and perhaps most importantly, the battery.

The battery inside the new 13-inch M4 iPad Pro clocks in at 38.99 Wh, which is slightly smaller than the previous generation’s 40.33 Wh. Apple says you can still expect the same 10 hours of battery life thanks to the M4’s efficiency improvements and better heat dissipation, of course.

The big deal, however, is that you can now remove the iPad Pro’s battery without having to remove “every major component” like in previous generations.

Shahram Mokhtari of iFixit explains:

Despite the difficulty of reaching these pull tabs, the fact that you can remove the battery without removing every major component inside this device is still a huge win for repair. This is a huge improvement over previous generations.

Check out iFixit’s full teardown of the M4 iPad Pro and the new Apple Pencil Pro below. I was intrigued to see the internal structural changes that allowed for an ultra-thin but still durable design.
