For the first time since Ronald Reagan’s last year as president, the Summer Olympics will be held without Oksana Chusovitina.

The 48-year-old Uzbek gymnast was competing at the Paris Olympics for the ninth time this year when she suffered an injury that ended her dream, she said Thursday. Chusovitina was set to compete this weekend at the Asian Gymnastics Championships in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan – she still had to finish first among athletes who qualified for the Olympic quota.
