The celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe’s American Century Championship featured dramatic drama Thursday involving an NFL legend.
As Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice walks the course with the NFL’s all-time leading receiver, he faces a couple of questions. A natural assumption would be that Rice was irritated by a trigger and reacted. However, based on the video of the incident, it doesn’t seem that way.
Rice is seen telling one of the reporters, “I’ll pick you up.” “Come and take it if you want,” security said as he separated Rice from the two men. There was a video of the confrontation. Acquired by TMZ Sportswho posted the clip on social media.

After the event, a spectator asked one of the reporters (Working for Starcade Media, according to TMZ) what happened. “One of the craziest things that’s ever happened in my life,” he said, then asked Rice if the Kansas City Chiefs’ receiving corps was good enough to win another Super Bowl.
The Chiefs finished seventh in the NFL with 4,383 team receiving yards, though that number obviously includes yards compiled by tight ends and running backs in addition to receivers. However, Kansas City never had a 1,000-yard receiver. Rashee Rice led the team’s receivers with 79 catches for 938 yards. (Travis Kelce was the Chiefs’ leading passer with 93 receptions for 984 yards.)
Kansas City added two notable receivers in the offseason, signing free agent Marqise Brown and drafting Texas speedster Xavier Worthy with their first-round draft pick. The team re-signed Mecole Hardman, but lost Marquez Valdes-Scantlig in free agency.
We sat on this video for a day because we wanted no negative publicity for either Jerry Rice or the tournament, but this TMZ story has now come to light and we feel the need to set the record straight on what happened.

TMZ found Rice after the incident He asked him about itHe said he took the question as a shot at his former team, the San Francisco 49ers, who won the Super Bowl last season. According to Rice, the men had “smiles on their faces” that indicated they were trying to get a response from him.
While it is difficult to hear everything that was said in the video, Rice’s account of the confrontation does not dispute what the reporters said. While talking to the viewer, one of the reporters suggested that Rice was drunk. That cannot be clearly proven. So it’s a “there is, there is” scene where each side has its own incident.
in A statement posted on social media, Starcade Media said that they have no respect for Rice and are not trying to provoke Rice. Nor were they at all “smiling” as intended.
Maybe Rice’s passion will show up again in another situation against the Chiefs’ receivers.
