New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge will try again to match Roger Maris’ American League single-season record of 61 home runs. Judge hit his 60th home run last Tuesday — He’s the sixth player in history with a 60-homer season — and is 4 for 15 with a triple, six walks and six strikeouts in five games since.

It should be noted that Judge is chasing the Triple Crown in addition to Maris’ record.. Judge entered Monday leading in home runs (60) and RBI (128) with a league-leading .31434 batting average just ahead of Xander Bogaerts (.31380). Miguel Cabrera was baseball’s Triple Crown winner in 2012. The Yankees wrapped up a six-game homestand Sunday and now open a three-game series against the AL East rival Blue Jays in Toronto. The Blue Jays will send righty Kevin Gausman (12-10, 3.32 ERA) to the mound. Judge is 8 for 22 with three homers against Gausman in his career, though he hasn’t taken it deep since 2017 and is 0 for 5 against him in 2022.
