Bihar Lok Sabha Election 2024 – BJP and NDA alliance

The Bihar Lok Sabha came into the limelight when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar decided to leave the Grand Alliance and form a new alliance with the BJP known as the NDA (National Democratic Alliance). Also, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party, Hindustani Awam Morcha, joined the NDA alliance.

The BJP is hoping to do better than its previous performance in the upcoming elections as it has formed a new alliance with the Nitish Kumar-led JDU. He will face a tough challenge from the RJD led by Tejashwi Yadav, son of former Bihar CM Lau Yadav, as well as the Congress.

In the last general election, BJP won 22 seats while JDU won 16 seats. Both the parties jointly contested the elections and after the election results BJP emerged as the senior partner. LJP, which is part of NDA, also won 6 seats. Congress, part of the grand coalition, won only 1 seat in the state. BJP secured maximum number of ballot papers with 23.58% vote share.
