CD Projekt Red has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will receive a Game of the Year edition after its Phantom Liberty expansion is released in 2023.
This was reported by the Polish website Stock watch (and noted Insider Gaming), CD Projekt Red president and co-CEO Adam Kiciński said during a recent investor conference that Cyberpunk 2077 will follow in the footsteps of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and receive a new edition that includes all previously released DLC in one package.
“It’s the natural order of things,” he said. “It was the same with The Witcher, which was eventually released as a Game of the Year edition after both expansions and has been on the market ever since. The same can be expected in this case.”
The Phantom Liberty DLC — Cyberpunk 2077’s one and only paid expansion that includes hours of new story content — is expected to launch in 2023, and Kiciński said the Game of the Year edition will be released soon.
Given that this expansion was only released for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC, it’s likely that the Game of the Year edition will be exclusive to those platforms as well.
In our review of the base game on PC on 9/10, IGN said: “Cyberpunk 2077 drops you into a beautiful, dense urban landscape and offers an amazing amount of flexibility in how you choose to take it out.”
