Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams was heavily favored to play Jimmy Garoppolo last season and may have had some involvement in the decision to do so.

Netflix documentary show Receiver Adams included a clip in which he was asked for his opinion on Garoppolo’s decision to bench him.

“Well, my opinion on this is that I signed on to that, and that’s the truth,” Adams said.

Adams didn’t explain exactly what he meant by “I’m signed,” but it seems to indicate that Raiders coach Antonio Pierce asked Adams’ opinion, and Adams told Pierce to bench Garoppolo for Aidan O’Connell.

Adams suggested that if the Raiders didn’t make a change at quarterback, he might have tried to force his way out of Las Vegas.

“I love Jimmy. He’s a great guy, but something had to happen for us to have a chance and for me to stay a Raider.

O’Connell is now competing with Gardner Minshew for the starting job, and Adams hopes one of the two can get the ball in his third year in Las Vegas.
