Dungeonborne is an upcoming first-person PvPvE dungeon crawler developed on Unreal Engine 5 that plunges players into a dark fantasy world where they feel the swing of every sword as they slay monsters with might and spells. Dungeonborne combines dungeon crawling with extraction and battle royale gameplay, creating a unique twist on the genre.

As part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest starting February 2nd, you can try out Dungeonborne in the game’s open alpha phase!

If you’re looking for a fresh dungeon crawling experience, here are the top four reasons you won’t want to miss it.

Dungeonborne is more than a mindless dungeon crawl – you’ll have to think quickly on your feet

While Dungeonborne may seem like a traditional dungeon crawler at first glance, there is much more to it than meets the eye. Deadly traps and dark shadows await at every turn as you delve into the gothic depths alone or in a party with two friends. Do not rely on anything, but try to use everything to your advantage. Look for high ground and ambush your enemies, drive them into traps, or even take the form of a treasure chest and lie in wait for your enemies to betray you.

Sharp tactical intelligence, team composition, and terrain awareness are needed to protect your treasure as you navigate this treacherous realm. As you play, you’ll have to make some tough decisions: Do you run early and secure your loot, or choose to stay behind and search for more power at the risk of losing it all?

It’s the decision-making that often forces you to make tough calls mid-battle, along with an ever-shrinking safe zone introduced by the digging mechanic that spices things up in Dungeonborne. But winning is not about coming last. Your main goal is to make it in one piece with some epic loot that you can use later.

Master Gothic Spiers with Powerful Classes and an Extensive Battle System

Dungeonborne draws heavily on RPG inspiration and will have plenty of lessons for players to master. While there are familiar fantasy archetypes like Fighter, Priest, or Rogue, you’ll be able to take more specialized classes.

Cover your enemies with ice as a Cryomancer, or rain down hellfire on all opponents when you don the mantle of Pyromancer. If you’re into necromancy or the occult, Dungeonborne has you covered. Step into the boots of a Death Knight, grab enemies with spectral chains and drain their life force.

Dungeonborne’s brutal combat rewards precision. Practice and perfect basic block and melee combat, carefully manage your class skills, and use the vial and potion system to give you the edge in battle. But beware: the further you go, the tougher the enemies.

Team composition makes a huge difference in Dungeonborne, so choose carefully when deciding who to adventure with. While Dungeonborne’s open alpha only features the human and undead races, more options are coming as the game gets closer to launch.

It’s all about the loot – looting, crafting and boosting to your heart’s content

After wresting victory from the jaws of defeat, it’s time to consolidate your loot and gear up before returning to battle. Once back home, players can sell their loot at the in-game auction house or increase it further. Every loot is important and has its place in the game, deepening the construction work and giving you more options.

Spiers and Dungeons shine with Unreal Engine 5 visuals

Dungeonborne’s dark gothic backdrop is brought to life in detail thanks to the power of Unreal Engine 5. Immerse yourself in stereoscopic capital sound that lets you hear every clash of knives and every creak of a door that betrays your enemy’s position.
