Frank Lampard has been sacked by Everton after a 2-0 defeat by West Ham United.
Everton’s ownership decided to release Lampard on Monday.
Lampard’s side were beaten 2-1 by 20th-placed Southampton last weekend, their latest defeat prompting action across the board, with Everton sitting bottom of the table on goal difference.
The Merseyside club have three wins in 20 Premier League games this season, the last of which came against Crystal Palace on October 22, and are unbeaten in the division so far.
Ahead of the Southampton game, Everton owner Farhad Moshiri backed Lampard but said his sacking after the West Ham defeat was “not the decision”.
But a defeat against fellow strugglers West Ham was Lampard’s only defeat this season.
