LOS ANGELES – A former Olympic football player in downtown Los Angeles was attacked on Friday by a man with a metal object in his face, breaking several bones in her face and causing one of her eyes to swell, the athlete said in a video. Posted on social media.

“He liked to see me with beautiful eyes of hatred,” she said in a video posted on Instagram. “It happened so quickly, he literally threw it off the road, even though it wasn’t close to me.”
The man – Simeon Tesfamariam, described by police, 51 – was detained until police arrived.
Los Angeles Police spokesman Drake Madison said Tesfamariam was a suspect in the shooting. Arrested without bail. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
Glass, a native of Los Angeles, posted videos of injuries to her eyes, nose and cheeks. She said she believed her vision would be fine and thanked the doctor for the stitching near her eyebrows.
“Goodbye,” she said in the video. “You don’t have to be afraid when you walk.”
