Aiming to extract every last drop of lore from Warner Bros. Montreal’s upcoming superhero outing, Gotham Knights? If that’s your goal, you should lock yourself in for a few games! Since there are effectively four characters to control, each run will give you a slightly different take on events. To be clear, the overall story will remain the same, only your perspective will change.
“You won’t see all of this in one game,” said game director Geoff Ellenor PLAY magazine. “[That’s] simply because there is a lot of content specific to the hero’s perception of what happened and what happened.’
Cinematic director Wilson Mui added: “From a cinematic point of view, it’s very, very, very difficult. Structurally, we’ll have a very similar scene that generally flows for each character, but each character has their own version of it. So because they act differently, talk differently, have different histories with different characters, it allows you to create a scene that will be their version. Some of them are very similar in how they do it, but they will have little subtle differences.”
Diehard fans will likely want to experience all the possible permutations, which will likely add massively to the replay value. Let’s hope the main campaign is compelling enough to promote all of these games, eh?
