Google is offering increased Pixel 8a trade-in values for older phones

Google Pixel 8A V5

Google just launched the Pixel 8a and is offering the device for free with select purchases through the Google Store. If you’re also upgrading from a previous Pixel A-Series device, Google has some pretty decent trade-in deals to offer with the Pixel 8a.

Trade-in offers have become one of the main ways to upgrade your smartphone over the past few years, and the Pixel 8a is no different. Google says it will give buyers up to $500 off the Pixel 8a — making the device free — with select trade-ins. Prices will vary, but the highest prices can of course be found on iPhones. The iPhone 14 Pro Max will set you back $499 regardless of storage option.

Best values In the Google Store can be found on high-end devices, but past Pixel A-Series devices have fairly solid values.

The Pixel 7a will set you back $200, while the Pixel 6a will set you back $180. Given that these devices often sell for less than $250 on the second-hand market, Google’s offering is a quick and easy way to upgrade.

The Pixel 4a, which is no longer receiving updates, also goes for $160, which is a particularly good deal. Google will also give you $175 for the OnePlus 9 Pro, which is an unexpectedly great deal.

We’ve rounded up some of the top trade-in deals below, all based on devices in good condition at the lowest storage option.

The strange thing is, Best Buy hasn’t launched the Pixel 8a yet. Retail usually has trade-in offers during pre-orders, but nothing is currently available. It will probably be later. However, in the meantime, Best Buy is offering a $100 gift card and $100 off the Pixel 8a when you activate with your carrier. This is the best deal available right now.

Amazon is similarly offering a $100 gift card with the device, but again without trade.

The Google Pixel 8a starts shipping on May 14. You can read practical information here.
