In today’s edition Bloomberg’s Power On newsletterMark Gurman writes that users should expect updates to the iPhone home screen as part of iOS 18. While the details are still unclear, he says that iOS 18 will make the home screen «more customizable.»
Apple probably believes that iOS 18 will be its biggest update yet. AI-powered features will be the main focus of AI integrated on the operating system. Apple can also integrate a chatbot feature Via Google’s Gemini.
Apple wants to «catch up» with other tech giants and introduce a unified AI strategy. Gurman says that iOS 18 will include many artificial intelligence features that will «help you manage your daily life.»
Previously, reports suggested that Apple is working on things like Siri improvements, AI-generated playlists for Apple Music, AI-powered document creation in the iWork suite, smarter reply suggestions in Messages, and more.
iOS 18 will be announced at WWDC in June, along with other Apple operating systems: iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, visionOS 2 and a new version of macOS. Apple is releasing its first developer betas in June, along with the launch of the new iPhone 16 series, likely in September, before a public launch in the fall.
We expect Apple to confirm the WWDC 2024 date in a few weeks, as March or April is usually when Apple announces the event and sends out invitations.
