Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was arrested on a felony warrant in Florida


Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was arrested on Wednesday in Florida for failure to report a change of residence as a registered sex offender, the Pembroke Pines (Fla.) Police Department said.

Taylor, 65, found himself in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was transferred to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail and released on bail Thursday, the Broward County Jail said.

Taylor’s attorney, Mark Eglarsch, said in an email that the arrest was a “mistrial” and that Taylor has pleaded not guilty.

“As with previous similar charges, Mr. Taylor did not knowingly commit any criminal wrongdoing. This situation is a significant misunderstanding,” Eglarsch said. “We are confident that the prosecutors will have a favorable outcome after reviewing the evidence that demonstrates Mr. Taylor’s innocence.”
