Jensen was taken off the ice during the Capitals game

Nick Jensen is taken off the ice in his first layup for the Washington Capitals against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Capital One Arena on Saturday.

Jensen tried to dump the puck in the offensive zone at 18:29 when he was hit hard in the puck by Lightning forward Michael Esimont at center ice. No penalties were assessed against Esimont on the play.

Jensen was stretched out and received treatment on the ice for five minutes. The officials then sent the two teams to the locker room with 1:31 left in the first half.

The Capitals posted on X that Jensen is “conscious, active and using all his extremities. He will continue to be monitored by the team’s medical staff.”

Jensen has 14 points (one goal, 13 assists) in 77 games for Washington (37-31-11) this season, which is one point behind the Pittsburgh Penguins for the second wild card from the Eastern Conference to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
