Sam Darnold left the 49ers for the Vikings last season and one of last season’s quarterbacks will be making the opposite trip to Minnesota in 2024.
Josh Dobbs’ agent, Mike McCartney, announced his client agreed One year deal with the 49ers. It was reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN Fully verified $2.5 million deal with $750,000 in in-game incentives.
Dobbs spent last season with the Browns, but was traded to the Cardinals before the start of the regular season and became the starter. He started eight games on the bench before being traded to the Vikings, who needed help after Kirk Cousins suffered a torn Achilles.
Dobbs started as the backup in Minnesota, but Jaren Hall suffered a concussion in the first half of his first start and Dobbs took over. The Vikings won that week and in Dobbs’ first start he threw for three touchdowns and ran for two others. The offense then ran out of steam, and Dobbs threw four interceptions in a loss to the Bears before pulling for Nick Mullens in a 3-0 win over the Raiders.
The 49ers have another backup in Brandon Allen, as does Brock Purdy, while the Vikings currently have Mullins and Hall on the roster along with Darnold.
