Officials with the Newport Beach Police Department said they could not confirm the allegations. The NBA has not yet finalized the allegations against Giddy, a league source said.

Giday declined to comment on the matter, saying the NBA is looking into the allegations.

“I clearly understand the question,” said the 21-year-old Gidey. “There is no further comment at this time.”

NBA commissioner Adam Silver told ESPN in December that the league would hold off on any punishment for Giddy until the Newport Beach PD completes its investigation.

“Where there is a criminal investigation, we take a back seat,” he said. “So you have an indictment, you have an ongoing criminal investigation. That affects how the players and the players’ union can work with us because of course the player has to protect his rights. I wouldn’t say never, but that’s the path we’ve consistently followed… That’s where things stand at the moment.

The No. 6 pick in the 2021 NBA draft, Giddy averaged 11.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 39 games for Oklahoma City this season.

TMZ first reported the news that a police investigation had been completed.
