Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. He was hurt by a shot to the ribs after Thursday night’s loss against the Chiefs, and head coach Brandon Staley provided an update on his condition Friday afternoon.
Staley said Herbert suffered a cracked rib cartilage, which is better than a broken bone. He named Herbert day-to-day and said the team will know more about his attitude next week.
With one more thing to play for on Thursday, Herbert will have some extra time to heal before the Chargers return to the field. They host the Jaguars on Sept. 25.
Herbert missed a game due to the injury, but came back and made a layup to cut the lead to 27-24 before Kansas City got a layup to put the game on ice.
