KANSAS Metropolis, Mo. – Lane Dawson, the 87-calendar year-old Corridor of Fame quarterback who led the Kansas Town Chiefs to their initial Tremendous Bowl title, has entered hospice care in Kansas Metropolis.

Kansas Metropolis station KMBC-Tv, in which Dawson commenced his broadcasting career in 1966, verified with his spouse, Linda, that Dawson was in hospice treatment.

The MVP of the 23-7 Super Bowl victory over Minnesota in January 1970, Dawson was elected to the Professional Soccer Corridor of Fame in 1987 and been given the Pete Roselle Radio-Tv Award in 2012.

From Alliance, Ohio, Dawson starred at Purdue and was picked fifth overall by Pittsburgh in the 1957 NFL draft. After observing limited time in the NFL, three seasons with the Steelers and two with Cleveland, he joined the Dallas Texans of the American Soccer League in 1962, where he reunited with former Purdue assistant mentor Hank Strahm.

Dawson moved with the crew to Kansas City the subsequent year and remained the Chiefs quarterback right up until his retirement in 1975.
