Bubba Watson’s daughter, Dakota, is ahead of Masters.

Bryson DeChambeau set the pace for the round at The Masters as LIV golfer climbed atop the opening day leaderboard at Augusta National. The great DeChambeau survived the crash conditions in the first men’s major of the year to shoot a 65 on a course where he had limited success last season.

Leading the chase is Scotty Scheffler, who finished in fine form with a smooth 66 to finish at six under. The PGA Tour major and 2022 green jacket winner arrived at Augusta as the favorite to add a second Masters crown to his collection and produced a typically composed and confident round.

The start of the game was delayed by two and a half hours after morning storms, and while the rain was clearing, the wind presented challenges throughout. The soft surface allowed older players to score relatively freely, but many top golfers took the lead. Rory McIlroy carded a 71 after recovering from a slow start. The surprise of the day was Danny Willett – playing his first tournament since shoulder surgery six months ago, the 2016 Masters winner produced a beautiful 68 to cap another exciting weekend on the pristine Georgia course.

Tiger Woods has made a strong start after the five-time winner said he was aiming for “one more green jacket” to take him to 16 major titles despite pain in most of his shots at Augusta. He and several other players will finish their first round on Friday after being limited to Thursday’s game.

Who is Bryson DeChambeau? The leader of the Masters who is friends with Donald Trump

Ever since Bryson DeChambeau made his mark on the golf world, the “Mad Scientist” has always done things his own unique way. From the theory of the golf game and his desire to break the perfect swing techniques, or the unparalleled determination and “bulk season” and an unprecedented physical transformation, which added more power to the amazing drive, he left California. No stone was left unturned in his relentless pursuit of perfection over 18 holes.

His best-ever start to the Masters, a 7-under-par one-shot lead into the second round Friday, was perhaps the clearest sign yet that DeChambeau is about to reap the rewards of his tireless work.

DeChambeau won the 2020 US Open with a six-shot win at Winged Foot, but the 30-year-old showed a different side to his game with an opening round finish of 65. Can DeChambeau win Augusta National and tame the danger behind Amen Corner’s stable?
