DENVER — There aren’t many mountains for Max Scherzer to conquer, but he conquered one Friday night in the Rocky Mountains.

Scherzer had the best start of his career in an unkind field for the Mets, beating the Rockies 5-2 to pick up his first win at Coors Field.

The veteran right-hander, who was 0-3 with a 6.39 ERA over his past six starts in the Mile High City, gave up one run on six hits, walked none and struck out a game-high eight on 102 pitches as Scherzer finished. Seven innings for the first time this season.

After being sidelined over three starts with a sprained ankle, Scherzer has given up just two runs on 18 innings (1.00 ERA) with three walks and 19 strikeouts.

“Finally healthy and able to work together, I’m finally starting to turn the corner. [catcher Francisco Alvarez] “Today,” Scherzer said. “He made some good calls today, he made some good sequences that we wanted to make. …

“To give some support to our offense, that’s huge because it allows me to be aggressive. … I should not be pricked with pins and needles.

The run support came courtesy of Francisco Lindor, who belted a two-run homer in the first inning after Colorado starter Connor Siebold walked Brandon Nimmon to open the inning.

Lindor later drove in Nimmo again with a fifth-inning RBI single to right-center field after Nimmo hit the first of two triples to tie Lance Johnson for seventh in franchise history (27).

Brett Batey drove a single to left field with two outs in the seventh for New York’s fourth run, and after Nimmo tripled again in the ninth, Lindor brought in a sacrifice fly for his fourth RBI of the game to seal the game.

Scherzer’s only blemish was Ryan McMahon’s solo homer in the second inning. He said he chalked up his experience at Coors Field to Friday’s success, including a career high of 20 swings and a loss.

“In my career, I’ve gotten a little bit of experience with pitching here and understanding what you have to do to attack and execute here,” Scherzer said. “… I knew what I had to do. I know how to attack this lineup and how to execute it.

With that kill, Scherzer finally got a look at Coors Field from the list of underrated ballparks. He knows he hasn’t lined up well here in the past, but he didn’t seem to realize that he was undefeated until tonight.

“Oh, my first win? See,” he said with a laugh. “That’s cool. It’s a good feeling to be able to come in here and win.”

Scherzer got that win despite having a blister on his right thumb that bothered him at the end of his previous start, but it flared up again in Friday’s outing. He said a blood clot started to form under his skin.

But Scherzer added, “nothing close to the kind of pain” he experienced in his previous start. My hope is that he will start to develop a sense of urgency to put the matter behind him — just as he put Kors Field behind him.

Scherzer has just one winless ballpark left. When asked which one he knew, he asked for a hint. After being told it was in the National League Central, he found it immediately.

“Pittsburgh?” he asked. “Wow.”

The Mets visit PNC Park to face the Pirates June 9-11, so Scherzer may get a chance to check that last box.

With more than 3,200 strikeouts, three Cy Young Awards, a World Series ring and many other accolades in a brilliant career, there aren’t many mountains for Scherzer to successfully climb.

But that will not diminish Scherzer’s efforts to beat them, the manager said after the latest raid.

“Everybody was looking at what his story was,” Buck Showalter said. “This is on Max’s path. Anytime you tell him there’s something he can’t do well, he’ll find a way to prove you wrong.
