Shocking photos show the moment a mother nearly died in front of her children after stabbing herself in a “fake skin jean” she bought online.
Michelle Seif, 45, suffered a seizure at home after collapsing and self-administering the drug when her blood sugar dropped dangerously low.
The mother-of-two – who is from Oxfordshire, England – did not name the specific injection she received, but said it was from a family of drugs known as GLP-1 RAs. Medicines in that category include semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozympic and Wegovi.
Sword told Kennedy News that she tried the drug “legitimately” in 2020 and that it helped her lose weight.
Earlier this year, Seifu said she started piling the pounds back on and decided to take the drug without a prescription.
“Now I know it’s very popular and hard to find [from a doctor]She said. “It was always coming up on my news feed.”
“I contacted this one company [online] And they asked if it was the official weight loss drug and they said yes,” the mother went on to explain that it was selling for $190. “It looked very similar and two days later it was at my house. No questions were asked about me – no medical questions. They didn’t even ask me how much I weighed.”
Saif administered her first injection of the drug – which she now believes was an Internet fake – on September 20, and only 15 minutes later she started feeling pain.
“I’m starting to feel weird,” Seif said. “I felt queasy and weird and I was sweating before I knew it. My son Caddy was muttering at this point and my eyes looked different. “
After that, the mother fainted, prompting her younger son to run to a neighbor’s house for help.
Realizing that the condition of the sword was dire, the neighbor called an ambulance and the paramedics reached the spot and took the mother to a nearby hospital.
“They were trying to give me liquid glucose, but nobody could get anything into my vein, so they started squeezing glucose gel in my mouth,” she said. “I woke up in the ambulance and they were trying to feed me pasta to raise my blood sugar… It was an out-of-body experience for me. I could hear people saying my name, but I was just mumbling.”
Swords was taken to the emergency room unconscious again and when she arrived at the hospital.
“At this point, I think all my levels were going crazy — heart rate, sugar levels, potassium levels,” she said.
Britain’s blood sugar level has dropped to 0.6mmol/l. According to the UK National Health Service, the blood glucose level is between 4 and 7 mmol/l.
“It took about an hour and I’m glad my blood sugar came up and I was out of the danger zone,” said Seifu. “I came back to consciousness and they said you are lucky to be alive. The doctors said they had never seen anyone survive a blood sugar level of 0.6 and I was a miracle.”
Sword believes the syringe she used contained pure insulin, causing her levels to drop dramatically.
“I was told that my children will bring my body home if no one is there. [the house at the time she passed out]” said the mother in amazement.
She is warning anyone who wants to try Ozympic to do so legally and not to buy other drugs online.
“I’m incredibly embarrassed to have put myself in this situation,” she said. “Nothing can ruin your life. I apologized to my kids and said I’m so sorry. I’m so angry and ashamed of myself. I’ll never do something like that again. It’s not worth gambling with your life.”
Sword’s story comes a month after health officials warned of a sharp rise in counterfeit Olympic pens around the world.
Several weeks ago, several people in Austria were hospitalized for fake self-inflicted wounds.
Like Sword, the patients experienced hypoglycemia and seizures, indicating that the pens contained insulin instead of semaglutide.
