The Sweet 16 began Thursday and the first day of action did not disappoint as North Carolina fell to No. 2 Arizona. With the women’s tournament winding down, are we in for another disappointing day?
We have another loaded slate on Friday with four games for both men and women. Undefeated South Carolina posted a perfect record in one of four marquee matches in the women’s bracket. In the men’s bracket, top seeds Purdue and Houston face tough challenges in No. 5 Gonzaga and No. 4 Duke.

No. 1 seed and undefeated South Carolina beat No. 4 Indiana by a sweet 16. Camila Cardoso’s 22 points and 7 rebounds led the Gamecocks. And the real season is still alive!

Raven Johnson knocked down a cold-blooded 3 for the Gamecocks, but the Hoosiers’ McKenzie Holmes answered quickly with a layup at the other end. SC leads 78-74 after a free throw.

Indiana cut South Carolina’s lead to TWO (74-72) with less than a minute left.
The Hoosiers are in this thing with less than 5 minutes to go.
South Carolina led by as many as 22 points at 7:30 of the third, but is now within five points. Indiana went on a 10-0 run six minutes ago at 1:56 of the third quarter. Chloe Moore-McNeil had five points.

It’s now down to 10 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Hoosiers cut it to 11 points with less than 5 minutes left in the third quarter.
The Gamecocks can beat teams deep and that is certainly happening here. The Hoosiers need a good start from the third quarter to stay in this thing.

The Gamecocks are getting what they want, scoring inside and outside while holding off a potent Indiana offense. Camila Cardoso led the way with 11 points, while Hoosiers star Mackenzie Holmes was limited to just 4 points on 1-of-6 shooting.
