Even with the launch of the Switch, Nintendo is still busy rolling out regular software updates. After a small update at the end of last year, now the big one has been released Version 18.0.0 update.

It’s added an additional auto-sleep option, added Korean as a supported language for parental controls, and as usual includes some “general system stability improvements” to enhance the overall experience. Here are the official patch notes:

Ver. 18.0.0 (released March 25, 2024)

  • Added “15 Minutes” as “Auto sleep when playing on TV” option in Sleep Mode Settings.
  • Added Korean as a supported language for the “Nintendo Switch Parental Controls” intro video.
    • When the console language is set to Korean, the video can be accessed from Settings > Parental Controls.
  • General system stability improvements to improve user experience.

Dataminer’Oatmeal‘ has a look at what’s going on behind the scenes in Version 18.0.0, and it appears “bad words” list updated. Here’s what else was mentioned:

“[Nintendo Switch Firmware Update] 18.0.0 is out now. Almost every system component has been updated. This is normal for major updates as the entire OS is rebuilt with a newer SDK version.”

We’ll let you know if we hear anything else. This latest update follows Version 17.0.1 released last December.
