As part of the fifth plan in the Prime Minister’s package, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on July 23 that the government will launch a comprehensive plan to provide internship opportunities to one crore youth in “top 500 companies” in five years. In this scheme, students get 12 months of exposure to the real-life business environment, various careers and career opportunities. An internship grant of Rs 5,000 per month and a one-time grant of Rs 6,000 is also provided.

According to this plan, the first phase will be for 2 years, and the second and third phase will be for 3 years. Companies participating in this scheme are expected to bear 10 percent of the training cost and internship cost from the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund. Which will be the top 500 companies?

Deciding which are the top 500 companies under the PM Internship Scheme will depend on the companies where you will be paid as an intern. It is up to them to decide their participation in the scheme. This plan will be implemented in two phases. Level 1 will be for two years and Level 2 will be for 3 years.

Both the government and the company share the costs

For PM Internship Scheme 2024, the government will provide Rs 54 lakh stipend and Rs 6000 per month. The company provides monthly allowance of Rs 6000 from CSR fund.
