The people behind it an extremely popular iOS retro game emulatorDelta was forced to quickly change the app’s logo after receiving legal threats from Adobe and warnings from Apple.

On April 7 Apple has changed its app store rules and began allowing retro video game emulators on its digital storefront. Within days, some of the most popular apps on the App Store have become emulators. This is one of the new programs up the charts is, is, is, is multi-console Delta emulatorwhich has a decade history. Its creator, Riley Testut, spoke recently My city, shared his hopes that the emulator could lead the charge into a new, better future for retro gaming. But first, before anything can happen, Delta will have to come up with a new logo.

As reported The Verge, on May 17, the Delta emulator on iOS was updated to version 1.5.4. And in the patch notes for this update, there is a message indicating that Adobe has sent a legal threat to Delta, the company behind Photoshop and Premiere.

“Adobe threatened legal action if we didn’t change our app icon – so we did! I hope you all like it,” Delta’s developer explained in the patch notes.

Testut spoke The Verge about the situation, explained that everything happened really fast in a few emails. It all started on May 7 when Adobe’s lawyers sent Testut a “firm” but “kindly worded” email demanding that it change Delta’s icon, and that the emulator would “mislead consumers or otherwise violate Adobe’s rights or laws he didn’t want,” he explained.

But before Testut could respond, the next day, Apple emailed Delta and suggested that the emulator might be at risk after contacting Adobe, which claimed Delta had infringed on its IP.

“We have responded to both Apple and Adobe that our icon is a stylized Greek letter delta, not an A, but we will update the Delta logo anyway to avoid confusion,” Testut said. The Verge.

The Delta icon now available in the App Store is just temporary. The plan is to introduce a new permanent logo in the future with the 1.6 update. As noted in the release, Delta’s old icon most closely resembled Adobe’s Cloud Experience app icon. Since the 80s, most of Adobe’s logos and branding have included a stylized A with a space in the design, similar to Delta’s old, now defunct icon.

Let’s hope Delta’s next icon shares nothing in common with another giant and controversial corporation.
