With both starting pitchers sitting out due to injuries, the Arizona Cardinals held a 17-3 lead over the Los Angeles Rams at halftime at Sophie Stadium. The Rams’ Matthew Stafford (concussion) and the Cardinals’ Kyler Murray (abdominal hernia) were both game-time decisions and neither could go.

That means Colt McCoy starts for the Cardinals and John Wolford starts for the Rams. Unsurprisingly, the game was sluggish offensively, with each team leading by just a field goal until late in the second quarter, when the Cardinals finally made it into the end zone. James Connor scored on a four-yard run, giving Arizona its first lead of the game.

The Cardinals regained some momentum from their first touchdown and came back to score another touchdown before the end of the half, this time on a pass from McCoy to AJ Green.

The Rams especially struggled offensively in the second quarter, going without a turnover in the quarter and taking the ball less than two minutes into the half. They wanted to reverse their post-Super Bowl slump, and it just hasn’t happened yet.
