A lot of trades happened in the NFL before Tuesday’s trade deadline, but one big-name player who wasn’t traded was Cardinals wide receiver. DeAndre Hopkins.
There wasn’t a lack of trying among interested teams, with several teams calling the Cardinals offers for Hopkins, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
There’s no word on which teams called and how much they offered, but it’s easy to see why the teams felt the Cardinals might be willing to move Hopkins: The Cardinals are 3-5 and Hopkins will be due their next $19.45 million base salary. Season. Teams with losing records often part with valuable players before the trade deadline.
But Hopkins, who missed the first six games of the season while serving a PED suspension, has caught 22 passes for 262 yards in two games this year. The Cardinals see him as an integral part of what they do on offense, and they are unwilling to get rid of him. At least not for what was offered.
