Another month means a pile of fresh toppings To Sony’s PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, with January 2024 titles including the Resident Evil 2 remake and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is available for both PS4 and PS5 (with a PS4 version also streaming), giving PlayStation Plus subscribers a chance to sample Gearbox’s well-received tabletop RPG in the buzzy shooter series. As for Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake, available for both PS4 and PS5, it gives the 1998 classic a thorough modernization with a brand new presentation and extensive mechanical tweaks, and the results are spectacular.
Elsewhere, there’s the chance to revisit the PS4 version of the absolutely gorgeous LEGO City Undercover, developer TT Fusion’s wildly imaginative and genuinely hilarious open-world take on the familiar Lego gameplay formula that acts like a family-friendly GTA.
PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium also include popular sci-fi rescue game Hardspace: Shipbreaker, available on PS5, as well as the PS4 version of Just Cause 3 – the 2015 installment of Avalanche Studios’ tropical stunt action. This time, the evidence of a spy leads the protagonist Rico Rodriguez to the fictional island of Medici in the Mediterranean Sea.
Rounding out the Extras and Premiums for January is Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun PS4 – a really cool stealth-action ninja adventure from the sadly now-defunct Mimimi Games – plus the PS4 post-apocalyptic colony-builder, survivalist, funky sim Session : Skate Sim for PS4 and PS5, and finally the narrative RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, also for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
As for this month’s PlayStation Premium Classics additions, in addition to the PS4 remaster of Legend of Mana, there’s also a PS4 remaster of Square’s much-loved action-RPG Mystery. Subscribers can also get stuck into Street Fighter: The 30th Anniversary Collection for PS4 – which includes 12 different fighting games from the venerable series – plus PS1 action-adventure Star Wars: Episode 1 The Phantom Menace (available on PS4 and PS5) and PS1 Racer Rally Cross is also playable on both consoles.
