The world is losing malaria, which has caused major damage in Asia and Africa, and is being seen in developed countries such as the US. A single business decision by one of the world’s largest bed net manufacturers 10 years ago exacerbated the situation.

Cheap, long-lasting and easy to distribute, insecticide-coated bed nets have been a vital tool for more than two decades to control malaria, which causes symptoms ranging from a severe cough to kidney failure and can kill in less than 24 hours. Nets don’t just protect the people sleeping under them – their chemical coating also kills the insects and reduces mosquito infestation.
