2024 Ford Mustang Unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, the car is the most modern and technologically advanced version of the venerable muscle car ever made, but it has plenty of retro features.
Seventh generation Mustang Powered by Unreal Engine software and equipped with dual digital displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster that can be configured to the driver’s taste.
They will also be upgradeable with new graphics and skins, but the cars come with a preloaded design.
This is a second instrument cluster design programmed to resemble the dual analog gauges featured on the immortalized third-generation “Fox Body” cars from 1987-1993. “Rollin’ In My 5.0” by Vanilla Ice. Fox was the name of the platform underpinning the Mustang, which was shared with several models, including the Fairmont, Granada and Mercury Capri.
The display is inspired by the original rather than a carbon copy, but includes a red hash mark at the required 55 mph mark just days before the national speed limit was raised.
It can also be set to a night mode that mimics green backlighting, which will take anyone who owns the original back in time.
Ford sold over 2.6 million Fox Body Mustangs throughout the years 1979-1993, the longest generation of the model.
The 2024 Mustang has another thing in common with the Fox Body. Its engine is a 5.0-liter V-8, but with an estimated 500 horsepower, it’s more than twice as powerful as its predecessor.
Along with the Fox Body skin, Ford told Fox News Digital additional legacy measurement styles will be uploaded in the future.
