SMU suspended WR Teddy Knox for his role in the Rashe Rice accident

SMU wide receiver Teddy Knox has been suspended after it was determined he was the second driver — along with Kansas City Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice — who recently caused a chain reaction crash in Dallas, the school said Thursday.

“SMU takes these allegations very seriously,” SMU said in a statement. “Federal student privacy laws prohibit the university from discussing the details of student disciplinary procedures.”

Rice, who was driving a Lamborghini sport utility vehicle at the time of the crash, faces eight charges, including aggravated assault, according to her attorney. Rice, 23, turned himself in to the Glen Heights Police Department on one count of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated assault and six counts of battery, police said Thursday night.

An arrest warrant was issued for Knox, 21, who was driving the other fast sports car, a Corvette, on the same charge, but police said Knox is not currently in custody.

“We are cooperating fully with law enforcement,” said Knox’s attorney, Dendra Grant. “Other than that, we have no comment yet.”

According to the police, the drivers of the Corvette and Lamborghini in 2010 On March 30, they were speeding in the left lane, lost control and the Lamborghini traveled onto the shoulder and hit the median wall, causing a chain collision.

The crash involved a Lamborghini, a Corvette and four other vehicles, and four people suffered minor injuries, police said. Police said the drivers of the Corvette and Lamborghini did not report anyone requiring medical attention.
