Sonic Frontiers The Switch may not really be “next-gen,” but according to Takashi Iizuka, there’s nothing to worry about.
Speaking to Gamereactor, the Sonic Team boss mentioned that Sega wants to give Switch fans the “same experience” as players on other platforms, including “high-end” PC.
The Hedgehog Engine that runs the game has been updated many times over the years to make multi-platform development as easy as possible for Sonic Team, and while the Switch version won’t feature the same “high-end assets” as those other systems (like PC), it’s still “very comparable.” Here is exactly what he had to say:
“Our artists make tons of content at a very high level, and if you have this great and amazing high-end PC, that’s great. But we also want to make sure that people playing on Nintendo Switch have the same experience. So we’re not necessarily using the same high-end assets, but the Hedgehog Engine is able to scale it down to a size that’s very comparable on the Nintendo Switch as it is with a high-end PC.
Previous reports suggest Sonic Frontiers will target 30 frames per second and 720p resolution on Nintendo Switch. Will you be adding this version to your game library? Comment below.
