Sports Story it wasn’t in the best shape when it launched, but luckily a few updates have been released since then. Now we’re up to Version 1.0.4, and while it includes the usual fixes and improvements, it also has another interesting change.
Access to the “secret development room” is now blocked. If you haven’t seen it already, this is the section of the game where you enter a secret area and talk to the “video game developers” about the development environment. Here are the full patch notes for Sports Story Version 1.0.4:

- If the Squid boss disappears, it will return to the platform after reloading the game.
- If the medals are collected in multiple rounds, the Wildlands birdie medals quest will complete correctly.
- Fixed some trades requiring a certain amount of money to run.
Various
- Various fixes for locations/events where the player could get stuck.
- Clubs screens will display correctly after 5 clubs.
- Fixed an issue that could sometimes lock the player after throwing golf balls.
- The 30% coupon now works properly.
- Fishing with a sticky hand will no longer be a problem.
- Fixed swing bar when using PureStrike Green woods.
Sports Story got a surprise release last December, and while we didn’t mind, it wasn’t much of a “buck” after such a long wait. Here is a short part of our review:
“If you loved the original, you’ll probably find Sports Story a fun enough follow-up, but after years of waiting, there’s no denying that it feels like a complete letdown. Assuming Sidebar can handle the worst of the technicalities. In terms of issues, we Sports Story sports We’d lightly recommend it to anyone looking for a quirky take on their RPG, but it doesn’t deserve to be at the top of your list.”
