Amid ongoing silence from embattled game company Embracer regarding the status of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, developer Saber Interactive is still moving forward with the project in some capacity.

The KOTOR Remake was considered dead after Embracer took over Saber Interactive, the developer working on the recently delayed Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2, after serious problems at original developer Aspyr.

A remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has been announced as a 2021 PlayStation game, much to the excitement of fans of the original, much-loved RPG. But aside from reports of ongoing struggles with the game, we’ve heard very little since then. Earlier this month, Embracer CEO Lars Vingefors declined to answer a question about the KOTOR remake during a financial presentation, saying, “I see that everything I say about it is making headlines, so that’s my only comment.”

Embracer has declined to comment on the matter despite multiple requests from IGN since it emerged that the KOTOR remake was experiencing development issues.

Aspyr had reportedly targeted a final release date of 2022 for the remake, but insiders suggested 2025 was a more realistic target. How this project will proceed is now even more obscure.
