On The Nintendo Switch subreddit There was also some talk about the controller, but others are happy to see the return of the iconic shooter:

BBQQA – “I still worry about this happening. For YEARS me and my friends complained that we would never see this with a modern version, that we would be stuck in IP Rights hell. But somehow it happened. I” I think the younger generation will see the impact of this game or the Switch and realizes how impossible it is on Xbox. It’s crazy.”

Odie_Odie – “I still play Goldeneye every year on the N64, I play it for a few hours on the weekend before saving my system again and I have to say the controls aren’t too bad. It’s very similar to the original. I think a lot of people don’t like Goldeneye because of the controls they get it. They’ve always been there, lol.”

MillwrightWF – “…The only disclaimer here was being an older millennial, so 007 was a big part of growing up. First I let my Fortnite-obsessed son play, and then after he absolutely destroyed me in Fortnite, it’s my style it happened. and things like that it gets me. Haha there is no building in this game son and I took it out a few times. But it wanted to keep playing after I put the controls down! It looks pretty good. Not the jumbled mess I was expecting . . . No slowing down from the original. Looking forward to getting more time tomorrow.”

And here’s what the community has to say on our sister site Pure Xbox said about the Xbox version of the game:

Gamecuber – “As a veteran of the original game since then, this version plays better than ever. The modern control scheme on the Xbox brings it kicking and screaming to where it is now. I briefly tried the Switch version with the original control scheme, and it’s clearly better than the actual N64 controller -will definitely benefit. The Xbox version played perfectly with the twin thumbsticks.”

Baku – “I played through the campaign last night and this morning on Agent difficulty on Switch. I just tried a few levels on Xbox and thought it felt better on Switch, although it required a bit of button switching”

SugarSkullM – “I love it, but I can’t deny that the nostalgia factor (and power) is strong. It’s still fun after all these years.”

Techno92LFC – “Obviously I would like to see the Xbox Live Arcade version along with other people, so I don’t understand why we don’t have it, Maybe someone here knows? However, it would be amazing to see it on an Xbox console. And with updated controls.”
