Publisher Konami and developer Digital Eclipse released the first major update for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collectionadds new gameplay improvements, including much-requested changes to improve online modes.
Online multiplayer opportunities for Teenager Peoplet Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (SNES) is included in this patch and is coming to online play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project (NES) in a future update.

New Additions
- Changed the Main Menu icon to a box icon. (Transition)
- PlayStation 4 arcade controller is now supported. PlayStation 4 joystick support is already implemented (PlayStation 5).
- Xbox arcade stick is now supported. Xbox joystick support is now implemented (Xbox One / Xbox series).
- When creating an online lobby, the player can now set the lobby size for both arcade games. The host can limit it to two, three or four players.
- When creating an online lobby, the player can now set the frame delay to “Automatic”. When this is set, the input delay is adjusted according to the number of players.
- Added new upgrade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (SNES / Super Famicom). Ultimate-Attacks can now be enabled ON/OFF in Story Mode.
- Added new upgrade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Super Famicom). “Group Mode” can now be toggled ON / OFF. (Only available in Japanese version.)
- Added new upgrade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (In the back) (United States / Japan). The number of lives per coin can be adjusted from one to five.
- Added new upgrade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (Arcade) (United States). The number of lives per coin can be adjusted from 1-8.
- Added new upgrade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade) (United States / Japan). Difficulty can be adjusted.
- Added new upgrade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (Arcade) (United States). Difficulty can be adjusted.
- Added new upgrade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (Arcade) (United States). Game Loop can now be turned ON/OFF. When ON, the game will restart from the beginning after the credits.
- New button movement added “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade) (United States / Japan),” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (Arcade) (United States).” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (SNES / Super Famicom)” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Hyperstone Heist (Genesis / Mega Drive).” Players can now assign a button to “Custom”. This button combines the Attack and Jump buttons to make it easier to perform special attacks.
- Added a new color upgrade to all Game Boy games. Added Game Boy Color Mode ON / OFF. The new “Color Palette” option added to the Pause Menu for all Game Boy games. In addition to other filters, players can choose between four color palettes:
- Black and white
- Game Boy Green
- Game Size Pocket Green
- Game Boy Light Blue
- Adjusted audio and Main Menu for different games.
- Additional pages for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (NES) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Genesis) added Strategy Guide.
- Additional page for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Genesis) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Hyperstone Heist (Generation) Added to the Strategy Guide.
- Visual settings are saved for each game.
Problems have been fixed
- Fixed German translation for “Punch Repeatedly” for Strategy Guide page 11.
- In the music player, the cassette icon for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade) show now displays the correct icon.
- On page 5 of the Strategy Guide (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (SNES)), Turtle Type 3 screenshot changed.
- In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (SNES), Stage Select enhancements now work even after changing settings in Options.
- In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Hyperstone HeistStage Select enhancements now work when selecting two players.
- For Easy Menu Navigation improvements Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project (NES) / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Manhattan Project (Famicom) works now.
- Additional Credit Enhancements Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (SNES) is now running.
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time The manual in the museum (SNES) now contains the missing 18-19 pages.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC through Steam.
