Samsung is working around the clock to make sure Android 13 and One UI 5.0 let them have their way compatible devices as soon as possible. But this came at the expense of security patches with Samsung The release of the November 2022 security patch is taking much longer than usual.

The Galaxy S21 series is an example of Android 13 and One UI 5.0 update not coming with the latest security patch – the update was released with the October security patch in most countries. But Samsung now brings the November security patch to the Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra via the second Galaxy S21 series update based on Android 13.

Now that you have Android 13, it’s time for some security tweaks

A new update is rolling out to the Galaxy S21 series (not including the Galaxy S21 FE, Received the November 2022 patch less than a week ago) in a dozen or more European markets. Comes with firmware version G99xBXXS5DVK1 and contains the November 2022 security patch. And, well, that’s about it.

This update is only focused on improving the security of the device, which means that if you ran into some issues with the first official Android 13 release for the Galaxy S21 series, you probably won’t see them fixed with the new software update. In Samsung’s defense, the Android 13/One UI 5.0 update has been pretty stable for most flagships that have received it, so most users should have no reason to complain.
