Another update has started for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, but the rumor is that it won’t be released on the Nintendo Switch until “early January 2024.”

While version 1.4.0 isn’t on every platform yet, Konami has shared the full patch notes – so you can at least see what’s coming. This update covers many games in the collection, adds new features and fixes some issues.

METAL GEAR SOLID – Master Collection Version

Ver.1.4.0 is now available to users Steam®!
This version is currently scheduled for release in early January 2024 on PlayStation® 5, PlayStation® 4, Nintendo Switch™ and Xbox Series X|S.

(2) Game Screen Settings
Can be set to “Standard”, “Pixel Perfect” or “16:9”.
The Steam® version of the game also has a “Full Screen” feature. It can be set to a total of 4 settings – “Standard”, “Pixel Perfect”, “16:9” or “Fullscreen”.
Wallpaper, screen area and screen filter functions are also available when using the “Standard” or “Pixel Perfect” functions.
The displayed aspect ratio may vary depending on the settings or features of your device/institution.

(3) Display Filter
Can be turned ON or OFF.
When enabled, applies a filter that displays the scan lines like on a CRT TV.

Added audio settings function
Settings for game volume and main menu volume can be changed before the game.
Only the game volume can be changed during the game.

Added ability to customize controller response speed (Steam®)
You can choose between “Fast” (new!) and “Stable”.
Some installations may experience inconsistent performance when set to “Fast”.
If you are facing such problems, please change your settings to “Fixed”.

  • Fix for the game to prioritize user button layouts (Steam®)
  • Fixed some other minor issues

METAL GEAR SOLID 2: Sons of Liberty – Master Collection Version

  • Added audio settings function
    Settings for game volume and main menu volume can be changed before the game.
    Only the game volume can be changed during the game.

Added “Window Mode” (Steam®)
Added ability to switch game to “Window mode” before playing.
This feature can be turned on or off by pressing Alt + Enter on the keyboard.

  • Fix for the game to prioritize user button layouts (Steam®)
  • Fixed an issue where the laser pointer would not be displayed during custom cutscenes (PlayStation® 5, PlayStation® 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam®).
  • Fixed an issue where sea lice were not displaying correctly during certain cutscenes.
  • Fixed some other minor issues

METAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater – Master Collection Version

  • Added audio settings function
    Settings for game volume and main menu volume can be changed before the game.
    Only the game volume can be changed during the game.
  • Added “Window Mode” (Steam®)
    Added ability to switch game to “Window mode” before playing.
    This feature can be turned on or off by pressing Alt + Enter on the keyboard.
  • Fix for the game to prioritize user button layouts (Steam®)
  • Fixed an issue where certain face paints were displayed at a lower resolution
  • Fixed some other minor issues

  • Game video recorded using platform features not retaining some of the audio ( Xbox Series X|S )
  • Issue with keyboard input being recorded for the game even when the Alt key is pressed (Steam®)

METAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater – Master Collection Version

  • Issue where some of the character textures are displayed at low resolution
  • Game video recorded using platform features not retaining some of the audio ( Xbox Series X|S )
  • Issue with keyboard input being recorded for the game even when the Alt key is pressed (Steam®)
