Are you a fan telegraphing your allegiance with something as trivial as a t-shirt, or are you settling for a tattoo? Smartphone owners may fly their fandom flag with ephemeral items like fancy bags, but the die-hard among them will be looking at a completely custom phone design. It doesn’t happen often, but every once in a while we’ll see a manufacturer grace a new fun-themed phone tied to a popular media object – remember the old R2-D2 Motorola Droid 2, or Samsung’s Iron Man Galaxy S6 Edge? This week we check out the latest superfan phone as POCO shares the new Deadpool F6.
Right, this feels more like a Deadpool & Wolverine phone, but Deadpool being Deadpool, our star gets top billing here. POCO F6 special edition Himanshu Tandon POCO India (via Digital Trends) earlier this week was adorned with a bold red back panel complete with Deadpool and Wolverine graphics. The “Deadpool” text extends to the side, but perhaps the coolest addition here is the placement of a bit of Deadpool’s face in the center of the F6’s LED flash.
Mind you, this is the non-Pro version of the POCO F6, we’re talking about a plastic body – wouldn’t it look great in that red aluminum? Little India Today, Deadpool officially announced plans to sell the phone with a special edition Flipkart On August 7. Of course, expect limited stock availability. If you’re India’s biggest Deadpool fan and intend to buy it, the prices seem to be 2,000 rupees (~$24) more than the regular POCO F6, which isn’t a bad premium for such a special edition model.
Some may call this phone ridiculous. Honestly, it could have been a Deadpool phone many more than above. It really is a picture of restraint.
