Digital Eclipse has released a new update to its outstanding TMNT compilation, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection, yesterday. And today, in a live stream, the developer revealed some key details that are part of the game’s first major update, including new Home icon (Thanks, Gematsu!).

The game’s first update is currently available for download on Switch, and the other big headline is the addition of online multiplayer. Turtles in Time (SNES). Radical! Now you can play one of the best TMNT games of all time online with your friends!

New Additions

  • Changed the Main Menu icon to a box icon. (Transition)
  • PlayStation 4 arcade controller is now supported. PlayStation 4 joystick support is already implemented (PlayStation 5).
  • Xbox arcade stick is now supported. Xbox joystick support is already implemented (Xbox).
  • When creating an online lobby, the player can now set the lobby size for two arcade games. The host can limit it to two, three or four players.
  • When creating an online lobby, the player can now set the frame delay to “Automatic”. When this is set, the input delay is adjusted according to the number of players.
  • Added new upgrade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters. Ultimate-Attacks can now be enabled ON/OFF in Story Mode.
  • A new upgrade has been added to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters. “Group Mode” can now be toggled ON / OFF. (Only available in Japanese version.)
  • A new upgrade has been added to the JP/NA arcade version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The number of lives per coin can be adjusted from one to five.
  • A new upgrade has been added to the NA arcade release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time. The number of lives per coin can be adjusted from 1-8.
  • Added a new upgrade to the JP/NA arcade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Difficulty can be adjusted.
  • Added a new upgrade to Ninja Turtles Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: NA arcade game: Turtles in Time. Difficulty can be adjusted.
  • Added a new upgrade to Ninja Turtles Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: NA arcade game: Turtles in Time. Game Loop can now be turned ON/OFF. When ON, the game will restart from the beginning after the credits.
  • Added a new button action to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (JP/NA Arcade), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (NA Arcade). Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Hyperstone Heist. Players can now assign a button to “Custom”. This button combines the Attack and Jump buttons to make it easier to perform special attacks.
  • Added a new color enhancement to all Game Boy games. Added Game Boy Color Mode ON / OFF. Added a new “Color Palette” option to the Pause Menu for all Game Boy games. In addition to other filters, players can choose between four color palettes:
    1. Black and white
    2. Game Boy Green
    3. Game Size Pocket Green
    4. Game Boy Light Blue
  • Adjusted audio and Main Menu for different games.
  • Added additional pages to the Strategy Guide for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters NES and Genesis.
  • Added page for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters and Hyperstone Heist Strategy Guide for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Creation.
  • Visual settings are saved for each game.

Problems have been fixed

  • Fixed German translation for “Punch Repeatedly” for Strategy Guide page 11.
  • The cassette icon for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show in the music player now displays the correct icon.
  • On page 5 of the Strategy Guide Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time. Turtle Type 3 screenshot changed.
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Stage Select enhancements now work even after changing settings in Settings.
  • Stage Select enhancements in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Hyperstone Heist now work when selecting two players.
  • For Easy Menu Navigation improvements Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project work now.
  • Extra Credit upgrades for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters are now working.
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Turtles at the Museum Handbook now includes missing pages 18-19.
