Kansas City, Mo. – Jason Kelce can feel his brother’s pain.
One of the Kelsey brothers should have won and the other should have lost on Monday night.
This time it was Travis Kelce’s turn as the Philadelphia Eagles rallied for a 21-17 comeback win.
Afterward, Travis, an All-Pro tight end, was brief with the media in the Kansas City Chiefs locker room. According to one reporter’s estimate, Travis spoke for about 40 seconds.
Jason, the Eagles’ All-Pro center, had his own brief exchange with his brother after the game.
“Any time after the game, one of the guys doesn’t want to talk too much,” Jason said. “I think if he’s like me, you’re happy for your brother in some way. He’s probably kicking himself pretty good right now, knowing how the game ended for him.”
Travis caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes late in the second quarter. He was also covered in double coverage the entire game, didn’t catch the ball in the first quarter, and finished with seven catches for 44 yards. And he dropped a pass on Kansas City’s final drive.
“We’ll talk later in the week,” Jason said. “It was a hard fought game. Both sides have made many mistakes. The clock is up. It could have gone either way.
Big brother knows. The last time the brothers played, Jason suffered a loss in Super Bowl 57. Days after Jason started that stunt, he got to join his brother on the popular “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce” podcast. They host together.
“We’ve had our ups and downs,” Jason said.
