It’s been a tough year for the gaming industry, and after last week’s story about potential layoffs at the Mortal Kombat studio, Warner Bros. Games has now announced that it has acquired Player First Games. This studio may not necessarily be a household name, but it has released its first game MultiVersus in may

According to Variety, the studio will continue to be led by co-founders Tony Huynh and Chris White, who have years of experience in the gaming industry. Warner Bros. Here’s what Games President David Haddad had to say about the acquisition:

“We’ve worked with Player First Games for several years to build and launch MultiVersus, and we’re thrilled to welcome this talented team to Warner Bros. Games. The brilliant and creative team at Player First Games adds to our extensive development capabilities. “

Huynh also worked on Player First Games’ Warner Bros. Game noted how “excited” he was to join his family. Moving forward, Player First will continue to focus on developing the free-to-play game MultiVersus.

Once again, this is Warner Bros.’ team follows up on recent news that NetherRealm Studios is facing layoffs that are reportedly affecting the developer’s mobile team.
