Following Super Mario RPG’s Switch release last week, Nintendo released an update on its customer support page revealing a bug that could halt progress.
The plan is to release a firmware next month to fix this problem. For now, here are the details on this error, along with a workaround:

In some cases, after the Paratroopa event is triggered in Monstro Town, the Paratroopa won’t appear when you go to Land’s End, which means you won’t be able to progress in the game.
Error resolution
If you encounter this error, you must go to the Mushroom Kingdom, then back to Land’s End again. Doing this should make the Paratroopas appear as intended.
Notes:
– You don’t need to go inside the castle in the Mushroom Kingdom. If you enter the city around the castle, the error should be fixed.
– It’s best to use the map to travel to the Mushroom Kingdom.
– When returning from the Mushroom Kingdom to Land’s End, you can use either the map or the “To World Map” option.
