The moment the 2023 NFL schedule was released, there was one game everyone in Philadelphia had circled on their calendars.

Week 11. Monday Night Football. Arrowhead Stadium. Super Bowl LVII rematch between the Eagles and Chiefs.

They couldn’t have written a better script leading up to the match. The Eagles and Chiefs have both been on a roll for weeks, with their records at the top of the league and two MVP-caliber quarterbacks facing off against each other.

It was a recipe for success.

A rematch of last year’s Super Bowl? Yes. Could it be a preview of this year’s Super Bowl? Also yes.

And from the looks of things, it might not be a bad thing for the NFL.

Monday night’s matchup averaged 28.9 million viewers, shared by sports and business reporter Joe Pompliano. Viewership also topped 31.2 million viewers. Not only is it the most-watched game of the NFL season, it’s also the highest-rated Monday Night Football game in 27 years (Packers at Cowboys in 1996).

It was a joy to watch from start to finish. The 21-17 victory was the Eagles’ first against the Chiefs under Andy Reid. It was also the first time Jason Kelce beat his younger brother Travis in the NFL. And while a win in November won’t erase the pain of missing the Super Bowl — this is definitely a game the Eagles wanted to make.

The Eagles had one of the season’s top-rated games against the Cowboys before Monday’s Week 9 matchup. The game averaged 27.1 million viewers. Now, the main two areas are birds.

It cannot be denied. Everyone loves watching the Eagles… and the numbers prove it.
