As the Golden Eagles look to unseat another top-10 team in program history, Shaka Smart leads the No. 4 team to the championship game against the No. 2 Purdue Boilermakers in less than 24 hours. Marquette is trying to do something no other team has done by beating the No. 2 team on consecutive days.

Against Kansas, Marquette (5-0) largely contained Jayhawks star Hunter Dickinson as its suffocation and active defense wreaked havoc after the possession. Now, the challenge has intensified. Zach Eddy and Purdue (5-0) Wednesday afternoon.

The 7-foot-4 Eddy is the reigning National Player of the Year. And he’s off to another All-American season, averaging 22.0 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

The game could be a preview of the final four with two teams with national title ambitions.

Purdue Marquette, 86-71, Nov. 14, 2017, won at the Bradley Center. A year later, the Golden Eagles got some revenge with a 65-55 win in Milwaukee on November 13, 2018.
